Orthodontic changes are semi-permanent. As you grow and age, your teeth may shift due to natural changes in your body. Retainers help control potential changes in tooth position. They serve two main purposes:

1. Stabilization: After braces treatment, retainers hold your teeth in their correct alignment while your gums, bone, and muscles adjust to their new positions—much like a cast after surgery.

2. Preservation: Retainers lock your teeth in their final position, preventing wear and tear from nighttime clenching and grinding.
